So this week we got a heffalump of snow on our front doors!
Starting with a dusting on Tuesday:
Which did prevent me from getting to class :( Unlike most who might be cheered by the idea of not having to go to class, I actually felt like I missed out substantially. Apparently they worked in the TV studios and it sounded like good fun! I'll catch up on the work but it's not the same.
However, if THAT stopped me from coming in, Thursday morning was something else!
I took this picture so that you can see how deep it is - about 10 inches or so. Which I know for someone in Canada is a laughable amount but hey - I've been living in Swansea for the last four years and that whole city would come to a complete stop under that amount! So as it stands I've had no class for the last week. Now I'm cool about that.
It's so funny how the country doesn't know what to do when it snows. We had the same thing in Swansea, too. Last year they - 'they' being the Council, presumably - ran out of grit for the roads. Wait, what? Yeah, no grit. So on the fifth day of ice all the roads were shut. And this is Wales, so, you know, lots of hills. Not ideal.
Here in Farnham there's not much difference. Apart from the fact that nearly everyone drives a 4x4 around here so the roads are a little busier, but they'd hardly gritted the roads and everything was quiet. One of my favourite things about snow is that you can walk outside and stand in the middle of the street and everything is quiet and peaceful. I hear we're to have more in the next week, too.
I think Roxy enjoyed the snow a lot too...
Apparently it hit over a foot of snow last year - so definitely more to come. It's a brilliant time of year, really. Looking forward to hot chocolate and cups of tea after furious snowball fights, cinnamon in everything... Sheer winter! Happy holidays guys, 20 days to go!
